Violent Illegal Aliens and The Harms They Cause

In the Summer, 2015, a news story shocked the Nation. A young woman, Kathryn Steinle, who was strolling the Embarcadero with her father, was shot and killed. Francisco Sanchez, a seven-time felon, had been deported from the United States on five separate occasions. When he shot and killed Kathryn, he was freely roaming the streets of San Francisco, one of America's growing number of Sanctuary Cities. Sanctuary Cities, by policy and practice, refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities to detain illegal aliens.

Had San Francisco held Sanchez until ICE could retrieve him, Kathryn would still be alive. Had ICE refused to surrender Sanchez to San Francisco so that the City could decide whether to prosecute a decade-old drug warrant against him (it chose not to do so) because ICE knew that San Francisco, a Sanctuary City, would not subsequently honor ICE's detainer request, Kathryn would be alive.

The evidence mounts to demonstrate that neither ICE, which can deport illegal aliens that have been convicted of felonies but chooses to surrender them to Sanctuary Cities, nor Sanctuary Cities, which choose an avant garde policy over the safety and lives of their resident, care sufficiently for Americans to protect them from this completely avoidable harm.

I have collected here the posts I have penned. These include posts about the killing of Kathryn Steinle as well as posts on the Congressional response to the problem.
